One in the hand..... is worth two in the Bush

One in the hand..... is worth two in the Bush :)
Andy and I are off to the Bush Hotel, Llantwit Fadre, to perform at their Open Mic sessions tonight. We try to drop by there about once a month, if we're not gigging, rehearsing or recording.
The Bush is a great venue for Open Mic sessions. Although informal (anything goes) the low ceiling and soft furnishings do allow for a very good acoustic quality.
The OM sessions are usually hosted by Chris, Justin or Mark, who rotate the duties between them and do an admirable job.
All are welcome, from beginners through to seasoned players (we can all find the bum notes, you know) and this is the place to try out all the new material that you are currently working on.
There is no pressure and no primadonna's. What there is however, is a top choice of some quality Real Ale (thanks Gerald - mine's a pint).

High Corner

Sunday August 1st The High Corner in Llanharan.

Great Fun gig, having reluctantly dragged myself there after Saturday's endurance test of tackling all 5 peaks of Pen y Fan mountain range and suffering a fractured finger from last weekend (ouch). Well worth the effort and completely forgot about all of my ailments as the Band motored through a blistering set (according to the Band members that is).

Many thanks to all the staff at the High Corner for providing a buffet spread for us and the audience during the mid-break (yummy!) The only thing missing to make this venue heaven was the option of a decent real ale.

We look forward to playing here again and again (dates to be confirmed).

THE SEMANTICS & Friends Present: MUSIC IS THE DOCTOR

Call 07970 626487 or 07877 523064 To Book Your Next Appointment

THE SEMANTICS are a group of accomplished musicians and seasoned practitioners of a well chosen selection of music from many different genres.

Dr Coleman – Surgeon Styles – X-Ray Charles and Morgue Attendant Rogers, invite you to take part on a musical journey that visits every corner of the world. We regularly prescribe to the pulsating Latin rhythms of South America; Caribbean Reggae; Gospel from the Deep South; Motown; Soul; Blues; Cajun of New Orleans; British Rhythm ’n’ Blues; a little bit of Country (but not Western) and some good old Rock n Roll. We sometimes grab a piece of Flamenco from Spain on the way back.

The door to The Semantics TARDIS is open to you from the moment they take to the stage. Your passage through time not only includes music from the 60’s; 70’s; 80’s; 90’s; from right here & now and from the future (spooky, eh?) but you may also hear anything from classic Cole Porter to Unk – they take the ‘Pee’ out of Punk.

There is no standard running order, no script and no set list. Who knows to which time zone or to where you will be transported next?

With an extensive repertoire, the Band is able to play in excess of four hours without ever having to repeat a song (don’t panic.... they do not normally play for four hours). There is a Miracle Cure here for everyone.

No two gigs are ever the same. The one certainty is that you will be part of a memorably enjoyable evening and feel great for days to come.
